Roofing Contractors in New Jersey

A New Jersey Roofing Company You Can Verify Before You Sign

New Jersey does not issue a general contractor license, so vetting roofing contractors in NJ starts with a registration number instead. William Penn Roofing & Exteriors carries NJ-13VH12052900, filed with the Division of Consumer Affairs and verifiable in seconds.

We have handled roof repairs, replacements, inspections, and storm damage across New Jersey since 2008, working out of Bucks County and over the Delaware, from Hunterdon County down to the Cape May shore. Same roofers, same GAF and Owens Corning systems, same 120+ five-star reviews on both sides of the river.

Tell us what your roof is doing and we will come look at it.

Roof Problems Spread Faster Than They Look

A roof rarely fails all at once. One lifted shingle or one length of separated flashing lets water in, and the roof looks the same from the street for months while the decking underneath does not.

Ice damming is the version most New Jersey homeowners meet. Snowmelt refreezes at the eave, backs up under the shingles, and turns into a February ceiling stain. That failure is usually ventilation and drainage, not shingles, which is why we check attic airflow before quoting anyone in Short Hills or Bridgewater a new roof they may not need.

Catch it at the flashing and it is a repair. Catch it at the ceiling and the decking and insulation are already part of the job.

I had roof damage from high winds and reached out for help. Dave responded quickly, arrived promptly, and thoroughly inspected the roof. He identified that the damage was isolated to one area and was able to repair it on the spot. His professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail were outstanding. I truly appreciated his quick response and quality workmanship. Highly recommend his services to anyone in need of a reliable and skilled roofer!

We recently had William Penn Roofing replace our roof and they did an incredible job from top to bottom. The representative, Kim, did a great job of getting our quote and presenting options to us. The roofing team did a superb 1-day job and cleaned up our yard well. The project manager on the job was there the whole time to answer our questions also! I highly recommend.

Our roof replacement on 274 East Court Street, Doylestown, was expertly done by William Penn Roofing with a minimum of disturbance to neighbors and traffic. David La Salle’s initial inspection of the failing roof was thorough and quickly followed by a quote. Scheduling and execution were efficient and communication between crew, tenants, neighbors and owners courteous and effective, avoiding all misunderstandings. Supervisors and crew were very professional and friendly and they thoroughly cleaned the job site, side walk and street after completing the job. It is a pleasure to recommend William Penn Roofing, based on quality of work, cost and work crew performance.

Really great experience the whole way through with this company. They are excellent with communication, returning calls/emails. Ashley got everything all setup. On the first visit, Kim was very thorough, explaining the whole process, and he had everything with him to be able to show us what we'd be buying (gutter size options, roof colors, and the vents). There was even a folder he left with me with literature and samples I could share with my husband. When the roofers came out they were polite, tidyand did an excellent job with cleanup. It's been 10 days and we have not found a single piece of roofing remnants. The gutters were installed the following day, we opted for 6 inch gutters and downspouts with the gutter guards and couldn't be happier. Again, very professional team and impeccable cleanup. I'd absolutely recommend going with this company for your project and hope to work with them again when we need future work on the house.

New Jersey Roofing Projects We Have Completed

Tear-offs, decking repairs, full replacements, and siding work across the counties we serve. Steep pitches, original slate and cedar, dormers, and complicated valleys take longer and cost more than a simple gable, so we price Princeton, Hamilton Township, Moorestown, and Haddonfield roofs off what is actually up there.

The before-and-after gallery shows what these roofs looked like when we arrived.

Roofing Services for Homeowners

Our residential roofing work covers everything from a single leak to a full system replacement.

Basement Water

Roof Inspection & Leak Detection

We get on the roof and into the attic. Most leaks trace back to flashing, valleys, or penetrations rather than the field of the roof, and you get a written condition report instead of a verbal opinion from the driveway.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Roof Repair

Lifted or missing shingles, failed pipe boots, separated flashing, and valley leaks. If a repair genuinely solves the problem we will tell you, even when a replacement would be the bigger invoice.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Roof Replacement & New Roof Installation

Full tear-off down to the decking, so anything rotted gets found and replaced rather than covered. Ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, proper ventilation, and a manufacturer-approved system from the underlayment up.

Balding Roof Shingle

Storm Damage Repair & Emergency Tarping

Active water gets tarped first and diagnosed second. Shore homes around Avalon take the worst of it, where wind uplift and salt-corroded fasteners fail together. You get a scoped storm damage report with photos and the storm date, ready for your adjuster.

Plan Your Budget Before You Commit

Roofing Cost Calculator

Our roof cost calculator gives you a working range in about a minute based on roof size and material. It is a starting number, not a quote, and it is enough to tell you whether to plan for this season or next.

Financing

If the timing is wrong but the roof is not going to wait, financing spreads the cost into monthly payments so an emergency does not become a deferred repair.

Flat Roof and Commercial Roofing Services

Low-slope roofs fail differently than pitched ones, usually at seams and drains rather than shingles. Our commercial roofing team in New Jersey works on offices, warehouses, storefronts, and the rear additions on older homes.

Missing Shingles

Commercial Roof Repair

Seam separation, ponding water, failed drains, and flashing at curbs and parapets. We work around your operating hours where we can.

Commercial Roof Replacement

TPO, EPDM, or modified bitumen selected on building use and drainage rather than on price alone. Downtown storefront buildings in places like Somerville often sit on decades of layered roofing that needs to come off first.

Roof Sealing

Commercial Roof Coating

For roofs with life left in them, a coating restores the membrane and buys years without the cost and disruption of a tear-off.

Our Roofing Process From First Call to Final Walkthrough

1. Free On-Site Inspection

We inspect the roof, the attic, and the drainage. Moisture, ventilation, flashing, and decking condition all get checked, because those are what turn a clean quote into a change order later.

2. Written Scope of Work and Transparent Estimate

A digital proposal with materials, quantities, price, and our registration number on the document, which New Jersey requires and plenty of contractors skip. Decking replacement is priced per sheet upfront so a surprise stays a known cost.

3. Material Selection and Project Scheduling

You pick the system and color. We schedule around weather and confirm anything your municipality requires before the truck arrives.

4. Property Protection and Installation

Landscaping, siding, and windows get protected before the first shingle comes off. A project specialist stays on site and runs the crew, and most residential replacements finish in one to two days.

5. Final Walkthrough and Cleanup

We sweep the property with magnets, clear debris, and walk the finished roof with you before anyone leaves.

6. Warranty Registration and Follow-Up

Manufacturer and workmanship warranties get registered in your name, and you get the documentation. We follow up after the first hard rain.

Roofing Systems and Materials We Install

Material choice in New Jersey is a question of exposure, not preference. What holds up on a barrier island is the wrong answer forty miles inland.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Architectural asphalt covers most New Jersey homes: strong wind ratings, long warranty, fair price. On shore-facing roofs we upgrade to an enhanced nailing pattern and a higher wind-rated line.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Standing seam sheds snow and wind-driven rain better than any shingle. Compared to shingles it costs more upfront and lasts decades longer.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Cedar shake suits older homes where the roofline is part of the architecture. It needs more upkeep than most owners expect in a freeze and thaw climate.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Copper works best as an accent: bay windows, porch roofs, dormers, and valleys. On homes around Martinsville and Green Knoll it is often original and worth restoring.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Real slate lasts a century and weighs enough that the framing has to be rated for it. Synthetic slate gives you the profile at a fraction of the weight.

Roofing Contractors NJ

A white reflective membrane that keeps heat out, suited to large commercial roofs and rooftop equipment. Heat-welded seams hold up where ponding is a risk.

Roofing Contractors NJ

EPDM stays flexible through the freeze and thaw cycles that split rigid materials. It absorbs heat rather than reflecting it, so it fits shaded and smaller roofs.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Modified bitumen handles foot traffic better than single-ply, which matters on roofs with service access. Common on rear additions, porch roofs, and garage sections.

Exterior Upgrades That Support a Stronger Roof

Water leaves your roof and immediately becomes something else’s problem. Handling both under one contract means nobody points at another trade when it goes wrong.

Sagging Gutter

Gutter Replacement

Undersized or sagging runs are a leading cause of ice damming and foundation moisture. Sizing seamless gutters to the roof area feeding them is what actually moves water away.

Siding

Siding Replacement

Handled alongside the roof, the transition at the roofline gets flashed properly instead of patched around by two crews. That is the main reason to replace siding and roofing together.

Open Skylight

Skylight Installation

Leaks here start at the flashing, not the glass. We install and reflash VELUX units as part of the roof system, including foggy or failed glass on a sound roof.

Cracked Siding

Stucco Remediation

Trapped moisture behind the surface causes structural damage that patching will not stop. Full remediation corrects the cause and restores the drainage plane behind it.

Roofing Contractors NJ

Window & Door Installation

A sealed exterior is only as good as its openings. Coordinating window and door replacement with roofing and siding keeps every penetration detailed by one team.

Certified Roofing Work With Manufacturer-Backed Materials

We install GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed roofing systems, VELUX skylights, and James Hardie siding. Certification means the work is done to a specification the manufacturer will stand behind.

That is what separates a workmanship warranty from a system warranty. Only one of them survives a contractor going out of business.

A New Jersey Roofing Contractor You Can Check Before You Hire

We are based in Pennsylvania, and New Jersey does not license general contractors. Registration is the credential that matters here, so start there with any roofer you call.

Fading Paint

Registered and verifiable. NJ-13VH12052900. The Division of Consumer Affairs portal shows status, expiration, and any disciplinary history, and the state requires $500,000 in liability plus workers' compensation before issuing that number.

Fading Paint

Closer than most of your options. Our yard sits minutes from the Delaware crossings, so crews reach Lambertville, Stockton, and Frenchtown faster than roofers driving down from the northern half of the state.

Fading Paint

Everything in writing. New Jersey requires a written home improvement contract with the scope, total price, and dates spelled out. Verbal change orders are where disputes start.

Fading Paint

One team for the whole exterior. Roof, gutters, siding, stucco, and windows on a single contract with a single point of accountability.

Fading Paint

Reviews that name the crew. Google Guaranteed status and 120+ five-star ratings, with customer testimonials you can read before you call.

Roofing Questions New Jersey Homeowners Ask Most

Usually not. Under the state Uniform Construction Code, replacing roof covering on a detached one or two family home counts as ordinary maintenance. Replacing sheathing or rafters does require one, and we confirm with your township before scheduling.

We stop, photograph it, and show you before replacing anything. Decking is priced per sheet in your proposal, so the number is known in advance.

Late spring through October, because asphalt shingles need warmth to seal properly. Winter installs are possible with hand-sealing, and emergency work happens year-round.

Wind damage is typically covered, general wear is not, and documentation decides which one your claim looks like. You get a scoped report your adjuster can work from.

Faster in the counties nearest the river, and we are honest about that. If water is actively coming in, say so when you call and it moves to the front of the queue.
